Strike

"I went bowling today.  The best part was the pizza."
So how did you do?
"I got a strike so I was mad.  Then Ms. (his teacher) told me that a strike was good.  But on one game a strike is bad and another game a strike is good.  That's dumb.  People should make up their minds so I don't get mad for no reason."

Sandwich

"Mom I LOVE this sandwich!"
You do huh? I hoped you might.
"I DO! It's the chicken! I love it! I have a party up in my brain!"

Lolly Pop

"We learned about how to get lolly pops today."
Lolly pops?
"Yup! You mix 10 sugars and 10 waters and stir it. Then you pick your favorite color and put it in. But then you have to stir it again if you want colors in it. So you mix it and wait your turn and raise your hand. Then you give all that junk to your teacher and she gives you a lolly pop that she said she made yesterday. Tah-dah, just like that. That's how I got a lolly pop."

Cake!

I picked Joey up early from school (so he could turn in some paperwork) and he had lots to share: "Mom, I got scared out of my chair today!"
How did you do that?
"Well, here, let me tell you how it worked.  I got my Ipad and I got a new game on it.  So I touched that one and it was spelled C-A-K-E with an explanation mark at the end of that.  So when it came on it said CAKE! real loud and scared me out of my chair. That's how that happens."

LOL!

Anger

Matt is upset that we are forcing him to go on a date, and yells that he is going to go on a 'rampage' (joking).

Joey over hears and tells Matt matter-of-fact "That WON'T help your anger. I learned that in school. You just have to take a DEEP breath and there...your problems will be solved."

I love the things he picks up our of a whole day of school, and what he deems important to pass on to others.

Tub

Joey usually has to have a BUNCH of stuff with him in the tub, but this morning was unusual and he only had his imagination for the most part. I heard singing, so I went to closer, to listen.

"Swim Joey Swim! Swim Joey Swim!" sung to classical music we listen to in the house. This is what I saw walking in there, lol.

Yes, he is actually doing the motions of SWIMMING! lol Silly boy.

Pillow

After a rushed morning, Joey is all ready for school and waiting for the bus. He settles on the couch with our dog and his DS.

"Ahhhhh, warm," he whispers, so I looked over to see him curl up to Honor, our lab. "Honor, your are my favorite pillow." he says to her, then lays back to play his game. She stays put right there for him until the bus comes several minutes later. <3 A Boy and his Dog.

Blanket

The whole time Dad, the brothers and I are putting this blanket together, Joey is watching curiously.
"Who is that blanket for mom?"
Oh, just some kid I know...
"Well, I am the only kid that watches spider man."
No answer from me.
"How is is this little boy you know?"
Oh, about 6 or seven I think, but he's big so maybe he's 7 or 8?
"Hey, I am seven! What does he look like?"
Hmmm, blonde hair and blue eyes.
"I have blonde hair and blue eyes! It's for ME then!"

Yes Joey, the blanket is for you, silly boy.

Eggs

Josh was making his breakfast this morning, while Joey eats cereal in the living room. He makes a few ugly faces and looks around wondering what the smell is. He looks funny at Matt who automatically responds with "It wasn't me".

Then he looks toward the kitchen and yells, "JOSH! Your eggs smell like FART!"

That didn't stop Josh from eating them anyway.

Waffles

"Joey, are you going to be able to eat all this?" I ask as I cut up the left over waffles he says he wants to eat.

"Well, I don't know it till I try it I guess!"

My Prince

We were watching Disney's Tangled and it got to the part where the prince died in the tower. (I can't ruin the movie for you, because he tells you in the very beginning that he dies!). Well, I got a little choked up, and Joey stood looking up at me. He gives me a hug and says,

"Don't worry mom, these movies always have a happy ending."

lol. I know sweetie, but I still cry on the sad parts. He was so sweet.

Rushing

First day of vacation? Arguing with a child who wants to go to sports when he is injured so he can further injure himself. Then another who didn't get up when his door was opened, then another who didn't turn a light on to WAKE said child up and ran late for school with no real breakfast.

Then there is the youngest, who is content to sit in front of the TV while I struggle to get food in him, clothes on, and get him ready to head out the door. Then he pushes me away after I finally get frustrated and yell at him to help me out!

"Stop RUSHING! You always RUSH! I can do it my own SELF anyway!" he says. Okay, first rule of vacations; stop rushing. I got it.

ABCs

Things Joey Says: "Mom, this shake is dumb! I can't even get any out!" Well, suck harder hon, it will come up. "I used Every Single Tongue Muscle!"


Things Joey Says: "Mom, can we make lemonade? All we need is lemons, ice, and those little umbrellas."
